We learn so much everyday from our day to day experiences. Each day comes with a new light and new lesson to be learnt , with always something amazing and enlightening.
Mornings of June are not very hot here at my place Dak Pathar ,which is a small hill town situated in ,India .It is situated on the bank of river Yamuna . Owing to a very low population density and with less pollution ,nature is at its best. This region is grandly filled with flora and fauna and the seasonal visit of migratory birds is a feast for the eyes .

My house also has a small garden with lots of fruit- bearing and flowering trees. My mango tree in summers is full of tasty and ripened mangoes thereby welcoming troop of monkeys to my garden.

This summer season ,I remember , one morning , I was sitting in my verandah with my kids when we saw around seven to eight monkeys climbing up the mango tree for a delicious breakfast . Among all of them there was a fragile looking monkey who caught our attention .Unlike others, it was just eating Papaya leaves, leaves from lemon tree and Bermuda grass blades only.
Interestingly all the leaves to my knowledge had one common medicinal benefit and that was they all were used to cure stomach aches and indigestion .
Human inquisitiveness was bound to arise .I was curious to know , why this pale looking being was eating leaves from the selected plants only , although there were variety of other plants available to it .More importantly how was it aware of the medicinal benefits of those leaves.
After few searches and researches, I discovered many interesting and informative facts, relating to this miraculous ability in animals. Animals like cats, dogs, snakes, bees and dolphins ,etc, use nature to cure themselves I.e they exhibit properties of self-healing or self-medication
There is a behaviour called Zoopharmacognosy, in certain non-human animals in which they intake or topically apply plants, soil, and at times insects to prevent pathogens and toxins.
I have often heard elderly people advising to get your wound licked by a dog for quick healing,as dog’s saliva has fast healing properties..
Researches show that a group of elephants in Kenya moved to an extinct volcano site and dug out caves walls to take out soft rock which they crushed and then swallowed. For it was rich in sodium ,a nutrient that’s good for herbivores.

Another gripping fact I found was about dolphins . They don’t bleed to death after a shark bite. They takes a deep plunge into the depths of water. According to diving science by doing so they reduce blood at their body surface resulting in less blood loss.
It is noteworthy that leaving few exceptions(dogs, cats, sea cucumber ,Axolotis etc. ) humans also have the ability to heal equally well as compared to animals. We have a huge storehouse of free medicine and medicinal potions can be prepared to treat host of ailments. Irony is we humans are neglecting the gift of nature while non -humans continue to use nature to cure themselves.
Always seeking your blessings and wishes😊😊
Please share your thoughts, would love to hear from you.

Your garden looks beautiful. It’s amazing that these non-humans harness the true potential of Nature to cure and heal themselves. Whereas we resort to artificial cures and suffer from side-effects in the process. We’ve got to learn a lot from our fellow beings

The animal instincts are better than humans. They very well know self care, as they don’t have pills and tablets. It is an interesting and informative post. And yes, you are fortunate to have such a beautiful garden.
