Nath–The pride of an Indian bride

A nath or a nose jewel is an ornament which is worn through a piercing in the nose.

In India , girls wear a nath as a symbol of their getting married. In Hindu culture adorning this piece of jewellery is paying our respect to Goddess Parvati. By doing so , the bride gets blessings from the goddess and is blessed with abundance and happiness for her entire married life.It is considered highly auspicious.

In South India it is worn on the right side of the nose, while in northern India it is worn on the left side of the nose. It varies in its size and design.

Tehri nath. -. Nathuli

I belong to a small town in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is a land of mystic  mountains.

My place dakpather on the bank’s of river Yamuna

In Uttarakhand we call it ” nathuli “. It is as beautiful as the state of Uttarakhand and it’s exquisite landscape.

Nathuli

It is made of gold with beautiful red stones , called “manik” embedded on it. The designs keep changing with time and trend but the basic design remains unaltered.

It is also traditionally worn by married women during festivals and during the marriage ceremonies of their family members. Nathuli is bigger in size, specially in the Tehri region of Uttarakhand.

Noteworthy it is, that, nose piercing in girls has some medical benefits also. It is elaborated in detail in our Ayurvedic sciences.

Nathuli in Garhwal region is sometimes also associated with the affluence or say status of the family. More affluent a family , heavier is the Tehri Nathuli .

A bride looks very beautiful in a nathuli , which she wears on her wedding day , just that she cannot relish the ” chhapan bhog ” of her wedding ceremony , with much ease😊.

A variety of tasty dishes right in front of her and the “nathuli ” covering almost half of the face😊. . So it is also a day of delicacy sacrifice for the lovely brides.😄)] ##@. An important point historically being missed !!!!.

(today through this post🤗 , has been brought to light from the diary of a bride)

Women of Uttarakhand are very fond of adorning them during their festivals and ceremonies as a ritual.

A tradition, an ornament, an integral part , an asset, and the pride of an Indian bride

Always seeking your blessings and wishes.💕💕❤️
